Turntable Drawings (2020)

Turntable Drawings reference John cage’s Ryoanji (1983) series of musical and visual works.

Cage collected pebbles from the Ryoanji Temple in Japan, and used chance procedures to determine the selection of pebble and the grade of pencil he would use to draw around each

pebble. Turntable Drawings expand on the principles derived from of the Ryoanji series, using instead, the agency of a record turntable arm to transcribe the outline of pebbles chosen according to chance procedures.
