Landscape is an unavoidable and inescapable theme to our lives. Wherever we are or whatever we are doing we are surrounded and moulded by it.
This body of work draws on the rural landscape around Aberystwyth reinterpreting it through my memory and imagination. I do not produce actual representations of a landscape but through my empathy with the landscape produce personal experiences and responses, drawing on the climate, weather, fall of light and topographical features of a particular place.
Through the aid of photography, sketches, studies, sound recording equipment and the physical act of painting I aim to represent the mood and feeling of a place to which an audience can relate and experience.
